Honda Accord Adds New Diesel !!!
Honda has extended its Accord range with the addition of a turbodiesel engine to both sedan and Tourer bodystyles.
A further development of the 2.2-litre i-CDTi powerplant already seen in the CR-V SUV and Civic hatchback, the four-cylinder 2.2 i-DTEC is an all-aluminium engine using direct fuel injection, exhaust gas recirculation and a particulate filter.
Transversely mounted, with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, power is up slighly to 110 kW at 4 000 r/min while peak torque of 350 Nm is available at 2 000 r/min.
The powerplant is mated with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission for the sedan while the turbodisel Accord Tourer is available only with a new five-speed automatic gearbox that has been designed specifically for its application in the Accord i-DTEC models.
According to Honda, fuel consumption, depending on the model, ranges from 5.9 and 6.7 l/100 km.
CO2 ratings have reportedly dropped below the latest Euro 5 requirements and now come to 155 g/km and 175 g/km for the sedans and 178 g/km for the Tourer model.
